Symptoms

When inserting or printing text, the text aligns itself improperly. Text objects that should align centered or right are drawn as if they were aligned left.

This will be most noticable in the titles and credits that are drawn during printout, or with any floating text object that is placed on the page and aligned center or right.

Cause

This problem occurs when a specific Windows text rendering function (TabbedTextOut) is used to draw text when the complex script and right-to-left language and East Asian language files are installed. Power Tab Editor uses the TabbedTextOut function to draw the text in the program, and therefore experiences the error. This is a Windows based error that occurs (as far as I know) on WinXP and Win2K only.

Resolution

I've been told that the Windows XP SP1 (service pack) does not address this error. The only way to stop this error from occuring in 1.7 is to uninstall the complex scripts and right-to-left languages. This can be done as follows:

  1. Click Start -> Control Panel -> Date, Time, Language and Regional Setings -> Add Other Languages.
  2. Clear the check box for Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages.
  3. Clear the check box for Install files for East Asian languages.
